I’m writing from the perspective of a software engineer who transitioned to user experience almost 10 years ago. I have over 16 years of software development experience. In my current roles I focus on user research, usability testing, and try to get involved in interaction design whenever I can. I’ve even done some visual design, but only when forced to.
